IRNA: A conference for the exchange of international experiences in the field of public libraries

In the coming days, Allameh Tabatabai University will host a conference that seeks to focus on international experiences in the field of public libraries in Europe and Iran.

The secretary and member of the executive committee of the conference, Glensa Glyni Moghaddam, Assistant Professor of Information Science and Knowledge at Allameh Tabatabai University, said in an interview with IRNA cultural correspondent: It is being carried out in collaboration with the European Union and Allameh Tabatabai University (Jean Monet is a French politician and diplomat and one of the founders of the European Union. .

In general, the European Union carries out international projects with different countries and usually calls from October to February each year for all educational institutions, including universities; At this time, proposals are sent through universities and institutions, and it takes about five months to review the proposals by different judges, and then in August and September (Corona postponed this issue) the names of the grant winners to The official form will be announced on the EU website.

He added: "Our project was submitted in 2019 by Allameh Tabatabai University and August 1998 was announced as the winner from Iran." Allameh Tabatabai University has so far managed to get four international projects from the European Union.

I am the executive director of this project, which we are implementing with two other university professors, namely Dr. Farideh Asareh, a full professor from Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, and Dr. Rahmatollah Fattahi, a full professor at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.

Glini Moghaddam stated: The results of this project will be shared in this conference and many professors are present and cooperating in this conference and we have 6 foreign guests. The conference is sponsored by the European Union and is organized by Allameh Tabatabai University in cooperation with the country's libraries. This means that holding this international conference is part of the project's implementation commitments and that is why it is being held.

The purpose of holding this conference is to transfer the experiences of European librarians to Iran and vice versa. Our goal is to transfer experience between public libraries in European countries and public libraries in Iran, and for this reason, we have both Iranian and foreign guests who are going to describe their activities in this field.

He added: "The main purpose of the conference is the role of public libraries in the economic, social and cultural development of Iran." Because the project is being held in Iran, the goal is to transfer European experiences to Iran, and in our conference we will transfer this experience between the two parties (Iranian and European).

Everyone who attends the conference is involved in some way, including professors and faculty members in the field of information science and science, students, librarians, and others interested.

"Certainly, such projects can play an important role in the economic, social and cultural development of the country;" In this project, we sought to understand how Europe used the potential of public libraries in its cultural, social and economic development, as well as what activities they do in public libraries that lead to the development of the country.

Finally, by implementing projects such as this project, we seek to localize international experiences in the country, and all of these will play a role in the development of Iran.
