Introducing the first book:

EU Policies and Plans for the Management, Development and Promotion of Services in Public Libraries

Compilation and translation by:

Dr. Golenssa Galyani-Moghadam, Dr. Farideh Osareh and Dr. Rahmatollah Fattahi

The present book is one of the outputs of the Jean Monnet International Project entitled "European Union Plans and Experiences for Public Libraries: Applicability for Iran," which has been funded by the European Union.

This book was compiled and translated by the three key staff members in the process of project implementation. The purpose of preparing and compiling this book was to describe for Persian audiences a range of valuable public library experiences in the European Union and its member countries. A further book, Localization of Some EU Plans in the Development of Public Library Services for Use in Iran with the aim of implementing EU plans and programs in our country, is being developed by the project team and will be published soon.

The present book, entitled EU Policies and Plans for the Management, Development and Promotion of Services in Public Libraries, consists of nine chapters. The main content of the book is the result of collecting and translating various reports and papers of experiences of EU public libraries that reflect the purpose of the project. To do so, we selected certain relevant resources from the Publication Office of the European Union (https://publications.europa.eu/en).

The fact that the European Union makes its various facilities and resources available to the international community for education and research, especially in developing countries, can greatly benefit faculty members, researchers and library students at various Iranian universities. This book presents new and valuable tips and ideas taken from the public library experiences of European countries. We hope that many of the questions and ambiguities that exist in the minds of Iranian managers and librarians about the place of public library service in our 21st century society can be answered in this book. The strength of the book lies in its reporting of objective experiences based on real data. It is hoped that this work will be welcomed and used to raise awareness of EU programs, strategic plans and experiences for public libraries. The content of the book will aid in further developing the already extensive programs and activities of public libraries in Iran and thus improve services to our dynamic Iranian society.

This book is in the final stages of publication and will be available on the project site soon.

Introducing the second book:

Localization of Some EU Plans in the Development of Public Library Services for Use in Iran

Compilation by:

Dr. Golenssa Galyani-Moghaddam, Dr. Rahmatollah Fattahi and Dr. Farideh Osareh

This book, which will be published soon, is also being compiled by the research team. As the title implies, the purpose of writing it is to localize some of the European Union's programs for use in public libraries in Iran, which were introduced in the previous volume. It is hoped that this will help the country's public librarians increase their knowledge and understanding of socio-economic trends and thus respond to their patrons’ needs today and tomorrow. As changes take place in the realm of public libraries and community service, we must take advantage of the latest scientific and experimental achievements of other countries. Such an approach will not only reduce our costs of gaining experience, but will also aid in achieving the desired results.

Introducing a research adapted from the Jean Monnet project:
